The Loventures of Adewale 2

Please read part one here.

Wale’s heartbeat dropped drastically and even stopped for a moment. It was not the reply he had hoped for. Prior to the call he had recited the event and role-played the sequence in his mind and everything was supposed to be in his favour - at least that was the conclusion he derived from his fantasies. Wale was an ambitious fantasizer; he had gone as far as fantasizing himself and Kemi holding hands and walking through the school compound and then having fun at the beach. At the height of his fantasies, Wale had kissed Kemi!

That evening while the fantasies were concocted in his thoughts, Wale was watching TV in the sitting room with his parents and siblings, when his mother noticed that he suddenly began to smile profusely and bend his neck;

“Wale!” his mother shouted in fear,

“eh hmm eh” Wale responded as he jerked into reality,

“wetin dey worry you? while you dey smile like that?” she asked

“Oh… I dey smile? I no know o” he responded rhetorically.

He was ashamed that his mom had caught him smiling and stupidly wondered if his mom could have been aware of the object of his smile. He was partly sad though that his fantasies were interrupted. He quickly excused himself and went to the room he shared with his other siblings, then he tried once again to recreate the scenario exactly as it was. It however didn’t work out as he could not recreate the momentum that led to the kiss. It was at that moment that he got courageous and decided that he would give her a call on “extra cool” that night.

As Kemi laughed, Wale’s heart melted. He felt he had said something wrong and quickly ended the call in fear. His bed was already soaked from the avalanche of sweat that had been ferociously forced out of every pore in his body by the speed of his heartbeat. He also felt serious headache from the tension that had engulfed him prior to asking the question. It was a tension soaked encounter! Immediately he ended the call he began to silently cry…

The next day at school, Wale was the talk of the whole class. Kemi had told her friends during their usual gossip session and her friends had carried the story around as is usual of them when an interesting story is shared at their gossip sessions. Wale’s friends had also heard the story and were waiting for their own gossip session to begin so that they could tackle him. Tunde, who had been previously jealous could not wait to laugh the skin off Wale. Philip, on the other hand was sad that Wale had lied in every paragraph of the story he told them. He had also fantasized on Wale’s behalf during his quiet time. His own fantasies were even more ambitious than that of his friend Wale. He had infact dreamt that Wale “did the do”

Wale got to school that day to meet eyes gazing at him. He had wondered why the big boys in class were laughing each time walked through their zone. During the break hour he walked up to Tunde who had laughed a bucket full before giving him the gist that everyone was aware that he tried to “toast” Kemi the night before.

“O boy you messed up big time” he started, after laughing and choking on his laughter

“You should have told us the truth so that we would have helped you, instead of telling us that she was almost your girlfriend”

“Someone that you could not even toast” he continued mockingly, as if he himself could woo a woman.

Philip joined in the conversation and immediately attacked Wale

“Wale na wa for you o” he queried

“Why you kon dey lie say you touch her nyansh na, you kon make me dey imagine many things”

“You even talk say you don kiss am” If you don kiss am, why she kon dey tell her friends say you try to toast am but your mouth dey shake” he continued angrily.

Tunde burst into laughter again as he listened to Philip’s heartfelt query.

Wale’s heart melted further and shame took over his whole being.

“No wonder everyone was looking at me this morning” he thought to himself, ignoring the queries of his friends

He left them without saying a word as he could not think of any response to their query. He had planned to inform them that he had broken up with Kemi after sleeping with her. He wanted to be seen as a ‘badoo’ by his friends. During their gossip session that day, he was expectedly absent.
His tutorial sessions with Kemi ended that night. Wale had ended the session himself – he was too heartbroken to continue. He however didn’t tell her directly. Kemi, already feeling bad for laughing at him and revealing their conversation to her friends, had reported to Wale’s house for their usual tutorial. She planned to apologize before their session started and then tell him gently that she already had a boyfriend as she had seen him crying at the back of the school compound that day. She arrived at the usual time and knocked, but Wale did not respond. She called his number several times and could hear his phone ring from inside but there was no response. She left and didn’t return again.

At school Wale avoided Kemi like a plague. He would stressfully take multiple detours to ensure that their paths never crossed. Kemi was not even bothered; Wale was too below her class to bother her. As much as Wale avoided encounters with Kemi, he however, still seized every opportunity he had to peek at her backside. It was still a mystery for him and his friends and every day after school, they still continued to camp at their usual spot, waiting for Kemi to pass through the school gate, so that they could examine the mysterious derivative she was marketing behind. It was that usually that sight, that would feed their fantasy for the day.

Wale had other crushes apart from Kemi. Top on the ‘other crush’ list was Amaka. Amaka was also very beautiful but not as much as Kemi. She didn’t have the mysterious behind but had a ‘confusing front package’. That was the phrase Wale and his friends coined to describe Amaka’s boob size. Unfortunately, unlike Kemi, they could usually not get a clear view of Amaka’s boobs without getting caught as it was under the careful watch of her protective eyes. This was frustrating for them until Philip invented the ‘technical staring methodology’. It was a simple scope that involved examining the boobs from the side with the side of the eyes. The methodology was tested and found to be effective by Tunde. That was how Philip came to be known as the ‘technical partner’!
